THE NEW FOREST
As well as stunning scenery and wildlife, there's plenty in and around the New Forest to keep visitors entertained. The opportunity to enjoy walking, cycling, horseriding, dog walking, birdwatching and many more activities are endless in the New Forest.
The New Forest is special for its extraordinary diversity of plants and animals.
William the Conqueror set aside the New Forest for hunting more than 900 years ago and it hasn't changed much in that time,deer are still a common sight, along with the ponies, donkeys and Highland cattle.
BEACHES
Milford on Sea Has it's own beach, looking across the Solent towards Hurst Castle and the Needles, less than 10 minutes walk from the village.
Highcliffe A lovely beach which can be approached from Highcliffe castle.
Mudeford An interesting area with a fresh fish stall,pub,grassy areas to relax, and a ferry across to Hengisbury Head.
Hengistbury Head Another beutiful beach and famous beach huts.
Boscombe Now famous for its newly constructed surfing reef
Bournemouth This is quite a different beach from the others as it is in the town, therefore more commercialised but very sandy.
Sandbanks Famous for its expensive houses, but you can also catch a chain ferry accross to the isle of Purbeck where you will experience stunning views.
TOWNS
Lymington A georgian town with a busy quay down 'the cobbles', many interesting shops and a thriving Saturday market in the high street.
Beaulieu Has origins dating back to thirteenth century and the time of King John, two miles away down the river is Buckler's Hard and eighteenth century village where some of Nelson's ships were built
Lyndhurst is known as the capital of the New Forest and is home to the New Forest Museum which runs some interesting activities for children.
RIngwood A historical market town, it has some beautiful architecture and many interesting shops.
Countryside
Salisbury with its famous cathedral is approx 45 minutes drive.
